We saw nearly 100 bald eagles today! I am in awe of the most amazing adventure we enjoyed today visiting Loess Bluffs Wildlife Refuge, located about 1.5 hours north of Kansas City. This is a must-see!

Family fun with my boys spotting eagles at Loess Bluffs Wildlife Refuge

Bald eagles migrate to the area in December and it is awe-inspiring seeing this beautiful and peaceful setting with hundreds of eagles, snow geese and other migratory birds and wildlife.

You can take the 10 mile auto-loop and stop as often as you like to admire the eagles perched atop trees and soaring overhead. We took a short 1 mile hike and had snow geese honking and flying right over our heads. It was truly breathtaking!

This would be amazing for visitors of any age because you don’t have to walk at all if you don’t want to but you can spend hours taking in the beauty at your own pace.

We spent nearly 5 hours and stayed for the stunning sunset which made for the perfect end to our day.
